Two prizes of $4,000 each and publication by a participating press are given annually for a poetry collection and a short story collection. In addition, two prizes of $2,000 each and publication by a participating press are given annually for a novel and a book-length work of creative nonfiction. For the Donald Hall Prize in Poetry, submit a manuscript of at least 48 pages; Lynn Emanuel will judge, and the University of Pittsburgh Press will publish the winning collection. For the Grace Paley Prize in Short Fiction, submit a manuscript of 150 to 300 pages; Jewell Parker Rhodes will judge, and the University of Massachusetts Press is the publisher. For the novel award, submit a manuscript of at least 60,000 words; Joanna Scott will judge, and New Issues Press is the publisher. For the creative nonfiction award, submit a manuscript of 150 to 300 pages; Kathleen Norris will judge, and the University of Georgia Press is the publisher. Friends and former students of a judge may not enter in the genre their former teacher is judging. The entry fee for each award is $25 ($10 for AWP members). The deadline is February 28.
