Career Development Grants of up to $1,000 are given three times a year to allow Minnesota writers to take advantage of a specific arts opportunity, such as a writers conference. Poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers who have lived in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, or St. Louis counties in northeastern Minnesota for at least six months are eligible. Submit up to 10 pages of poetry or 15 pages of prose with a resumé by November 30. There is no entry fee. Call, e-mail, or visit the Web site for the required application and complete guidelines.
