The College of Arts and Sciences offers competitive tuition remission. All admitted graduate assistantships are considered for these awards. As of Fall 2022, the MFA program joined NMSU’s Creative Media Institute for Film and Digital Arts.

Other Features:

The program of study concludes with enrollment in a third-year thesis workshop and in a final professionalization course to prepare students for post-MFA careers in academia or the private section, fellowships, or future doctoral study. The program also hosts a reading series, which brings regional and national writers to campus for readings and workshops. Students can work for the program’s national literary magazine Puerto del Sol or the reading series La Sociedad para las Artes. Internships are available with local independent presses in the region, such as Apostrophe Books and Zephyr Press.
