Author's Bio

A writer of fiction and nonfiction, I published my first book with Little Brown and Co., and it is now forthcoming in rEprint from Dzanc Books. My short stories and personal essays have appeared widely, in the New York Times, the Pushcart Prizes, Best New American Voices and many anthologies and journals. I teach fiction and creative nonfiction writing at Penn State.

Fulbright, Pushcart. two-time fellowship winner to MacDowell Colony, Djerassi Resident Artists program and Ucross Foundation. I have also won scholarships to the Breadloaf, Sewanee, Wesleyan and Squaw Valley writers conferences as well as to the Albee Foundation, VCCA, St, James Cavalier Centre in Valletta, Malta, Fundacion Valparaiso, Camargo Foundation, Fondacion La Napoule, and elsewhere.
