Author's Bio

Juan Luis Guzmán is a poet, professor, actor, director, and community organizer who earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Fresno State along with a BA in English and a BA in Mass Communication/Journalism. With fellowships from Macondo Writers Workshop and CantoMundo, his work has appeared in Huizache, PANK, Assaracus, Pilgrimage, The Santa Ana Review, and The Rumpus, among other journals, as well as the Letras Latinas Blog and Poet’s Quarterly, and he has been three-times nominated for a Pushcart Prize. He is the Vice Chairman of the Selma Arts Council and served as executive director of LitHop, Fresno’s literary festival, from 2017-2019. He is the current Co-Director for CantoMundo and teaches English at Fresno City College.
