Author's Bio

I'm the author of The Narrow Door, Unbuilt Projects, The Burning House, Famous Builder, and Lawnboy. My work has appeared in The Atlantic, ConjunctionsFence, The New York Times, Ploughshares, Tin House, and elsewhere. I'm an associate professor in the MFA Program at Rutgers University-Camden, where I'm the editor of StoryQuarterly. I live in Brooklyn. A new memoir, Later: My Life at the Edge of the World, is forthcoming from Graywolf Press in March 2020.
