Author's Bio

Poet, educator, and editor Tarfia Faizullah was born in Brooklyn and raised in West Texas by Bangladeshi parents. She is the author of Register of Eliminated Villages (Graywolf 2017) and Seam (SIU 2014), the 2015 winner of a VIDA Award and GLCA New Writers’ Award. Recent poems appear in Poetry Magazine, jubilat, New England Review and are anthologized in Best New Poets 2013, The Breakbeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop (Haymarket 2015), Please Excuse This Poem: 100 New Poets for the Next Generation (Penguin 2015), and elsewhere. A recipient of a Pushcart Prize, Tarfia is the Nicholas Delbanco Visiting Professor of Poetry at the University of Michigan and co-directs Organic Weapon Arts with Jamaal May.
