Beatnik Cafe is a monthly poetry series, hosted by Hanna Pachman at the tea cafe, Hey Hey (1555 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026). There are 1-2 featured readers followed by an open mic. The next event will feature the poets, Jeremy Ra and Donna Spruijt-Metz on March 26th at 4 pm. Please come 10 minutes early if you are interested in signing up for the poetry open mic. 

Jeremy Ra is a queer, Chinese-Korean-American poet living in Los Angeles. A Pushcart and Best-of-the-Net nominee, he was the recipient of the 2022 Morton Marcus Poetry Prize and a finalist for the Steve Kowit Poetry Prize. His first chapbook, Another Way of Loving Death, is available now through Moon Tide Press.

Poet, psychology professor, and recent MacDowell Fellow, Donna Spruijt-Metz’s first career was as a classical flutist. Her poetry appears in Copper Nickel, RHINO, Poetry Northwest, the Tahoma Literary Review, and elsewhere. Her books are ‘Slippery Surfaces’ (chapbook), ‘And Haunt the World’ (with Flower Conroy, microchap), and her full length debut, ‘General Release from the Beginning of the World’ (January 1, 2023, Free Verse Editions).
