Nationally renowned historian Grace Elizabeth Hale comes to Columbus on February 24 to discuss her new memoir “In the Pines: A Lynching, a Lie, a Reckoning,” winner of the Mississippi Historical Society Book of the Year Award, with esteemed Mississippi essayist W. Ralph Eubanks. Hosted by the Friendly City Books Community Connection, a special project of the CREATE Foundation, this gathering is set to illuminate the complex tapestry of racial history and literature in the South. The event, in partnership with the Columbus Arts Council and the Mississippi State University Department of History, will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Omnova Theatre in the Columbus Arts Council.
