Funding/Employment Opportunities: 

This program is fully funded and offers eight teaching assistantships annually. They are typically awarded to three fiction writers, three poets, and two creative nonfiction writers. Each TAship includes a stipend of approximately $17,000 full tuition remission, and student health insurance.

Admitted MFA students are additionally eligible to apply for University-wide fellowships offered through the Graduate School.

The program regularly brings in writers from all over the country through its Visiting Writers Series and hosts a monthly reading series involving current students and faculty. Each semester faculty convene a professionalization panel to help students navigate the writing life outside the classroom. Students are given support to help attend AWP. Summer funding is available, as is the opportunity to attend summer residencies at cabins in Tennessee and Montana.
