The 2024 Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference was held from June 11 to June 17 in the Green Mountains of Ripton, Vermont. The conference, designed for both emerging and established translators, featured translation workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as lectures, craft classes, meetings with editors and agents, and readings by faculty and guests. The faculty included translators Kareem James Abu-Zeid, Anton Hur, Madhu H. Kaza, Bruna Dantas Lobato, Emily Wilson, and Matvei Yankelevich. Special guests included translator Sony Ton-Aime. Participating publishing professionals included editors John Donatich (Yale University Press) and Rohan Kamicheril (Farrar, Straus and Giroux). Tuition was $2,735, which included lodging and meals. The fee for auditors who did not have a manuscript was $2,365. Financial aid was available. To apply, writers submitted up to eight pages of translated poetry or no more than 4,000 words of translated prose, a copy of the matching selection in the original language, and a brief preface with a $20 application fee by February 1.
