The program offers partial funding to most students. Students who receive a graduate assistantship work in the writing center and as an embedded tutor during their first year and teach composition courses in their second and third year. The assistantship waives a portion of tuition and provides a stipend of $8,000.
The program hosts visiting poets and writers who have individual conferences with students. It is one of the only programs that offers the possibility of a concurrent MA in English without additional hours or cost. There are editorial opportunities with the McNeese Review and Boudin. Writing program faculty and graduate English faculty are accessible and enjoy working closely with students.
