Author's Bio

Sherri Silverman, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized poet, artist, writer, and Vastu sacred space design consultant through her business, Transcendence Design.
Sherri's interest in poetry was inspired at an early age by her grandfather, who was a non-fiction writer. She was the class poet in elementary school, but her true flow of poetry began in 1975 while she was on a long meditation intensive with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Her perceptions connected with the pure unbounded consciousness within and flowed back out as poems.

Sherri taught in California Poets-in-the-Schools and then founded her own program in Santa Fe, NM, with grants from the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry. She also taught creative writing at Douglas Anderson School for the Arts in Jacksonville, FL.
Guest editor, “Poesia” section of Crosswinds. December 1990.
Selected poetry readings, 1979-1997: Northeastern University, Boston, MA; Framingham State College, MA; Maharishi International University, Fairfield, IA; Laguna Beach Poetry Series, CA; Guest poet: reading and interview, KCSB Poetry Hour, Santa Barbara, CA, August 1986; Santa Fe Public Library; College of Santa Fe, National Poetry Week 1990; “Mirror Image” solo reading; Heaven on Earth, Atlantic Beach, FL, March 1994; 1997 Celebration of Trees reading, New Mexico State Capital Rotunda, Santa Fe.
Editor and introduction of children’s poetry and art article, “I Dreamed I Was Dreaming: Students Create the World with Words,” Santa Fe Spirit Magazine. March 1990.
Invited presenter, Acequia Madre School Author’s Fair, Santa Fe, NM. 1990.

Sherri included some poetic writing and some of her poems in her design book, Vastu: Transcendental Home Design in Harmony with Nature, which is on the recommended reading list of the Chopra Center newsletter and Clodagh's latest book; praise for her Vastu book continues in an impressive list of magazines, newsletters, and other media. She has worked with Vastu clients in Santa Fe, the USA, and internationally since 1999.

Sherri taught meditation, yoga, and spiritual development courses for decades; she studied directly with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. She was also adjunct professor at several colleges, including Naropa University, teaching literature, writing, humanities, art history, and interdisciplinary studies.
