The Small Press Center, the nonprofit organization in New York City that has sponsored Small Press Month in March for the past eleven years, recently announced that it will change its name to the New York Center for Independent Publishing (NYCIP). The new name, along with a new logo and a new Web site (www.nycip.com), will be officially unveiled at a cocktail reception in midtown Manhattan next Thursday night. The guest of honor will be Grove Press founder Barney Rosset.

The NYCIP was founded in 1984 to provide educational programs and networking opportunities for independent presses. In addition to Small Press Month, the organization sponsors the annual Independent and Small Press Book Fair in December and the New York Round Table Writers' Conference, which was held this year in April. Individuals and presses can become members of the organization for an annual fee. For more information, visit the organization's current Web site at www.smallpress.org.
