Angelo Mao is a research scientist. He earned his Ph.D. in bioengineering from Harvard University. He has first-author research publications in Nature Materials, PNAS, Nature Biotechnology, and elsewhere. His first book of poetry, Abattoir (Burnside Review Press, 2021), won the Burnside Review Press Book Award. His poems have appeared in Lana Turner, Poetry, The Georgia Review, and elsewhere. He has also written for Opera News. He was born in California and lives in Massachusetts.
