Savannah S. Miller (she/her) is a queer and disabled writer of poems, plays, and the things in between. A strong believer in the power of words, she considers herself an inventor and agitator, and her art and scholarly pursuits a means of activism. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing with a focus on Fiction from Augsburg University.
Savannah's work aims to center the narratives of women and LGBTQIA+ communities, as well as raise awareness about mental health and invisible access needs. She is currently working with Girls on the Run Memphis as their Program Manager and with Playhouse on the Square in Memphis as their Director of New Works. As Director of New Works, she spearheads the NewWorks@TheWorks program at Playhouse, which leads to the world premiere productions of two new plays every year. Her work has been featured by or is forthcoming with Modern Language Studies, Jelly Bucket, Flash Fiction Magazine, Watershed Review, the Sierra Club, and others. She is the author of the poetry collection Route 460 (Red Rook Press) and the chapbook Transit (Bottlecap Press).
In addition to writing, Savannah is a graduate of Dartmouth College and has acted in several productions, including A Midsummer Night's Dream (Theatre Memphis, 2024); Theatre: A Love Story (Women's Theatre Festival, 2021);The Sweet Science of Bruising (Dartmouth College, 2020); and A Chekhovian Cabaret (CRASH Theater Co., 2019). She has developed works with the New York Theatre Workshop and CRASH Theater Co. She is also a stage manager, most recently serving as ASM for the regional premiere of Roe (Playhouse on the Square, 2023). As an arts educator and arts advocate, Savannah has fulfilled positions with various artistic institutions, such as the Smithsonian's Discovery Theater, the Stratford Festival, the National Women's Theatre Festival, and the Virginia Theatre Association. She was also one of two selected by Young Playwrights' Theater to be a Young Playwright in Process for 2020-2021 and won the Teresa Jordan Emerging Local Playwright Competition through Germantown Community Theatre outside Memphis, Tennessee in 2025.
