Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, Poetry
The Creative Writing Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, non-continuing, faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences in the field of Poetry. Appointment to this position will be for a term of two semesters, beginning fall semester of 2024, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.
Oberlin’s Creative Writing Department is one of the few freestanding undergraduate creative writing departments in the country, and provides an intense and rigorous course of study with instruction, studio training, and coursework in a variety of genres. Creative Writing at Oberlin emphasizes an inclusive workshop climate where creative expression, experimentation, and collaboration thrive.
The incumbent will teach a total of five courses in the general area of Poetry Writing.These courses will be at the 100, 200, and 300 levels of vertical curriculum.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the MFA or Ph.D degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2024-25). Candidates should show a strong publication record. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
