Editorial Focus

The Maine Review is a biannual online literary journal that publishes culturally significant and innovative writing by writers living in Maine, across the country, and around the world. Maine Review Publications is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making contemporary literature accessible to readers and writers of all incomes.

Tips From the Editor

The Maine Review seeks outstanding contemporary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, including works in translation and hybrid forms. We are pleased to publish new, emerging, and established writers, and are committed to supporting representation, innovation, and literary artistry.

We have three reading periods. Our general submission reading fee is $3, but we also regularly offer free submission opportunities.

Send us writing you’re excited about, work that pulls us in and makes us think, question, or feel. Send us pieces that took courage to begin and tenacity to complete.
