Editorial Focus
Spellbinder is a quarterly literary and art magazine publishing both print and digital issues. Founded in 2020 by students in Durham, England, it has grown into an international collective of editors and contributors. The magazine welcomes submissions from artists, dramatists, poets, and writers of fiction and nonfiction, with a focus on emerging voices. Spellbinder charges no submission fees and accepts work on any theme. Today, it is led by Effy Kousteni and Tatianna Victoria supported by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Tips From the Editor
Spellbinder publishes work that explores social reality, identity, memory, trauma, relationships and the shifting state of the world through fresh perception. It is particularly interested in work that inhabits thresholds: moments of transformation, uncertainty, contradiction and becoming. Spellbinder values psychologically rich writing in which realism brushes against the surreal, the uncanny or the conceptual, without losing sight of emotional truth.
The magazine welcomes poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, drama and visual art.
