David Matthews

David Matthews is a native of the South Carolina Midlands, poet, runner, and unaffiliated intellectual. Graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in philosophy. One day he found himself in Atlanta at the birth of the Little 5 Points arts scene and lingered there for twenty years. In 1998 he came to Portland. He draws on diverse traditions to fashion poems that at their best convey a sense of something akin to what the Romantics referred to as the sublime and the Surrealists termed the marvelous.
