Author's Bio

Scott Lowery is the author of the chapbook Empty-handed, winner of the 2013 Emergence Chapbook Prize from Red Dragonfly Press. His poems have appeared in Great River Review, Naugatuck River Review, North American Review, Prairie Schooner, Sow’s Ear Poetry, The Teacher’s Voice, Third Wednesday, and Water-Stone Review. Lowery has been a Pushcart Prize nominee and a finalist for several national poetry prizes. His career as a school teacher spanned 30 years in a variety of public settings, including corrections, residential treatment, and alternative programs. After retirement, he has continued working with children as a teaching artist, including coordination of The Teen Voices Project, a series of writing workshops that resulted in the publication of Soundings (Book Shelf Editions). Lowery currently splits his time between Rollingstone, MN, and the Milwaukee area.
