Michael King hopes  Classics; Tradional Lyric and Narrative Poetry, including 16th and Century British; and 19th and 20th Century American Nature Writings, including those of the New England Transcendentalists; as well as other works of Fine Art and Music have influenced his own poems, prosimetrum, and nonfiction vignettes, which often indulge how immersion in diverse communities has evolved his environmental and cultural concerns.  Before college, Michael pumped gas, drove trucks, cooked, and worked on farms, for construction companies, in factories, and at a shipyard.  He has taught English and History and advised students at High Schools and Universities throughout China and America.  Michael has earned a BA in English, an MS in Academic Advising (Higher Education), a Specialized Certificate in College Counseling (Secondary Education), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Sustainability.  He also enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities, including BMX racing, in which he once earned national amateur ranking.
