Massachusetts Poetry Festival

The 2025 Massachusetts Poetry Festival, sponsored by Mass Poetry, was held from May 30 to June 1 at several venues throughout Salem, Massachusetts, including the House of the Seven Gables, Old Town Hall, the Peabody Essex Museum, and St. Peter’s Church. Programming included headline readings, workshops, panels, a small press fair, multimedia events, open mics, and live performances. Participating poets include Diannely Antigua, Marilyn Chin, Ross Gay, Saeed Jones, Danez Smith, and Felicia Zamora.

Chuckanut Writers Conference

The 2025 annual Chuckanut Writers Conference, cohosted by the Narrative Project, Sidekick Press, and Village Books and Paper Dreams, was held on June 27 and June 28 at Sehome High School in Bellingham, Washington. The Frost Place

The Frost Place Poetry Seminar was held online from August 3 to August 7, 2025. The seminar featured poetry workshops, craft talks, and faculty and student readings. The faculty included poets Patrick Donnelly, Kathy Fagan, and Deborah Paredez. The cost of the conference was $700. Anne LaBastille Memorial Writing Residency

The Adirondack Center for Writing offered a two-week residency from September 21 to October 5 to six poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers at a lodge on Twitchell Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. Three residents will be chosen from the Adirondack region and three will be chosen from anywhere else in the world. Residents are each provided with a private room and bathroom, work space, and meals. There is no cost to attend the residency, but residents are responsible for travel expenses to and from Twitchell Lake.

The 39th annual New York State Summer Writers Institute was held from June 22 to July 19 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. The program featured two- and four-week workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Salty Quill Writers’ Retreat for Women

The Salty Quill Writers’ Retreat for Women offers one-week residencies three times a year to twelve poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators who identify as women at McGee Island, a 110-acre private island located three miles east of Port Clyde, Maine. Residents are provided with lodging at a turn-of-the-century oceanfront summer cottage in single- or shared-occupancy rooms, three chef-prepared meals a day, transportation to and from the island, and the opportunity to participate in after-dinner readings and critiques as well as kayaking, hiking, and taking a sauna.

Mesa Verde Writers Conference

The Mesa Verde Writers Conference, sponsored by Mancos Creative District, was held on July 10 and July 11 at the Mancos Commons Building in downtown Mancos, Colorado. The conference features workshops for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers, and was followed on July 12 by a literary festival with pop-up activities throughout Mancos. Participating authors included poet January Gill O’Neil, poet and fiction writer Lisa C. Taylor, and fiction writers Angie Hodapp and Mark Stevens. The cost of the conference, which includes workshops, readings, and meals, was $425.

Headlands Center for the Arts

Headlands Center for the Arts offers four- to ten-week residencies from mid-March to mid-November to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and graphic novelists at its retreat center in the coastal wilderness of the Marin Headlands outside San Francisco. Residents are provided with a private bedroom and work space in a shared house, round-trip airfare, four meals per week, and a $1,000 monthly stipend. Taos Writers Conference

The ninth annual Taos Writers Conference was held from July 25 to July 27 at Society of the Muse of the Southwest, a literary organization in Taos, New Mexico.
