Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers

The 38th annual Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers was held from July 7 to July 13 at Wallowa Lake Lodge on the shores of Wallowa Lake, Oregon. The weeklong conference featured generative writing workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as panel discussions, craft talks, open mics, and readings. The faculty included poets Charles Goodrich and Anis Mojgani, fiction writers Nina McConigley and Joe Wilkins, and creative nonfiction writers Erica Berry and Stephanie Elizondo Griest. Fiction and nonfiction writer Beth Piatote delivered the keynote address.

North Carolina Writers’ Network Squire Summer Writing Workshops

The 2025 North Carolina Writers’ Network (NCWN) Squire Summer Writing Workshops was held from July 24 to July 27 at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as panels, readings, and open mics. The faculty included poet Junious Ward, fiction writer Bryn Chancellor, and nonfiction writer Maddie Norris. The cost of the conference was $799 ($699 for NCWN members), which included tuition, group meals, and single-room on-campus housing; the cost for commuters was $599 ($449 for NCWN members).

Loghaven Artist Residency

Loghaven offers residencies of two to six weeks year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers in five rehabilitated historic log cabins and newly built facilities on ninety acres of woodland in Knoxville, Tennessee. The residency includes an $850 weekly stipend for supplies and expenses, a travel subsidy on a sliding scale from $400 to $800, and up to $200 in reimbursement for shipping materials.

Gell Writing Residency

The Gell Writing Residency, sponsored by Writers & Books, offers one- to three-week residencies year-round to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators at Gell: A Finger Lakes Creative Retreat in Naples, New York, situated on 24 acres in the Bristol Mountain foothills. Sunlit Residency

Sunlit Residency offers weekly residencies of one to three weeks and monthly residencies of up to three months year-round to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators at the Sue-Je Lee Gage Residency for Human Rights and Social Justice in Ithaca, New York.
